Below are links to a few of the 100+ videos and slideshows on my YouTube channel “Rest InSight.”

In our world of innumerable, quickly-changing images, we tend to look for the next image without really seeing the image before us. By contrast the still photo calls us to slow down and focus on only one thing selected by the photographer. The calm, quiet style of my photos in part reflects my nature, but also is used to facilitate that slow-down, attempting to create a place of calm, maybe even reflection.

As a photographer I scout for treasures in the natural world hoping the viewer, too, will share some of the wonder and joy I experience upon finding them. And if the photo works best, it is not only aesthetically pleasing but a visual metaphor. The shot of a surfer standing atop the waves looking out to the horizon at sunrise is everyman beginning a new day, his recreation becoming a re-creation of himself along with the world all around him, himself part of the living poem of God’s workmanship.

Married with one grown artistic daughter, I live in Charleston, SC along with my husband who is a sculptor, and below is one of his pieces “Jonah.” His portfolio may be seen at jimmalecky.org. We also have a joint YouTube channel “The Couplet” which features our poetry.
